Friday Favorites

  • The way Kayla crawls as fast as she can for something soft and fluffy (i.e. pillow pet, dog bed, furry blanket) and dives head first into said soft thing and comes back up smiling.
  • How Kayla bends over to look under the cabinets/couch to find out where that ball she was just playing with rolled to.
  • The way Kayla has SO much to say!  She is really loving learning all the different tones and decibels her voice can hit.  She like in a constant state of talking.
  • Movies...almost any kind (especially old musicals I love that are on t.v...like "The Unsinkable Molly Brown.)
  • Rainy days when Kayla takes long naps.
Happy Friday...enjoy the rainy weekend (if you are on the East Coast.)

  1. I stumbled upon this blog today and initally was totally creeped out. Before I risk insulting you any further, allow me to explain...

I'm sitting on the couch in my old, wood floored house staring at a rug full of toys (EXACTLY like the photos I see you have posted) while my wonderful, cloth diaper clad, blonde haired daughter takes a much needed nap. Mommy is at work and I am board so I decide, just for fun (I know, thrilling) to google my full legal name, Justin David Hales. Google finds your post "Happy Birthday Daddy!" and I begin to puruse your blog. For a moment I actually thought someone had been spying on my life. Good thing my birthday isn't until November... or is it? It isn't my intention to come accross as wierd as I probably am, but the similarities between your family and mine are uncanny.

Anyway, you seem like a wonderful Mom and an interesting blogger. (at this point I've read quite a bit of it) So I should stop before I insult you or creep you out any further. Besides, it's time for me to run the extra rinse on the load of diapers in the washing machine. I certainly don't want Mommy to come home from work and have chores to do on a Saturday night (not that we do anything Saturday night anymore).

Oh, I almost forgot. I couldn't help but notice your multiple comments about your daughter's sleep schedule. Our daughter is alomst 4 months and a wonderful sleeper. She sleeps 8-10 hours EVERY night and has been since about 5 weeks. I am in no way an expert on the subject but we subscribe to the "Baby Wise" philosophy and it's worked for us. I'm not sure it's something you can or would want to begin at this point but google "Baby Wise" for the book if you want to learn more.

    Happy blogging and God bless!

  2. Justin:

Thank you for making me laugh, and I'm not creeped out actually. I'm glad you enjoy my blog and it's crazy how similar our families are!
Thanks for the sleep tip, I think I've read every book and tried every sleep strategy and she still wakes up once a night. It's getting better as we increase solids in her diet so hopefully soon. Plus, she is meeting milestones early and I think she's getting a bunch of teeth at once. I'm sorta just going with the flow at this point! :)
