Kona, HI Day 7

Tuesday was surf lessons day.  We all got up early to head down the coast to where we were taking the lessons, near a little old Catholic church - St. Peter's.  Gigi and Papa took all our stuff and Kayla and the camera and got themselves settled while we all went to meet our instructor Ossian (pronounced Ocean- coincidence, I think not.)  He and his helped (who I of course can't remember his name) were awesome!  We started out learning the basics of standing up on the board on the shore then we all paddled out to give it a go.

Justin went out before we all did since he's an expert. :)

Ossian told us that about 90% of surfing is paddling, and he's so right.  And man is that tiring!  He also said the hardest part for new surfers is actually paddling fast enough to catch the wave, so they would be giving us a shove into the wave when we were supposed to stand up to make it easier.  Since we are all pretty good athletes, we all were able to stand up and ride our first waves, and there were hardly any crashes.

It was really fun, and apparently Kayla was also having fun with her grandparents, despite it once again because past her nap time.  My mom told me afterwards that Kayla hated the sand so much, when they sat down on the beach on a towel, if any grains of sand came near her she would scream and cry.  She'll get over it right? :)

When we got home, the boy went to play golf (except Justin, he wasn't feeling well so he laid down) it started to downpour.  So we took that chance to play with Auntie Lauren and Auntie Megan.

Kayla has a thing for belly buttons.

She's also very good at climbing over things or people to get what she wants (usually technology, in this case, Lauren's phone.)

All-in-all, another really fun day on the Big Island!

By the way, this means I can check off #22 on my 101 list.  I've been terrible at keeping this list in the front of my mind lately, but hopefully soon things are going to be settling down into a more normal routine for our little family so I can get back on it!
